Hotelier's Guide to Buying Hotel Slippers

Hotelier’s Guide to Buying Hotel Slippers

Hotel slippers may not be the most luxurious hotel amenities that you can offer your guests but they contribute to a quality experience. Guests who traveled far often look forward to the time when they can already slip into comfortable hotel slippers. It may just be a small detail but it’s too important to not pay attention to.

If you haven’t given hotel slippers a thought during your last inventory, it may be time to know how you can use them to improve the experience of guests in your hotel. Here are some of the tips to get you started.

How to Find the Best Hotel Slippers

1. Decide on the Size

While there are differences in the sizes of hotel slippers, most hotels offer single-size slippers for men and women. The standard size ranges from 26 to 29cm. Some hotels offer two sizes with the smaller size for women and the bigger size for men.

2. Know the Material

Different types of materials are used in hotel slippers. When choosing the material or fabric, you have to consider how it will be used or if it’s meant to be disposed of after use.

  • Non-woven hotel slippers – lightweight and made with polyester. Generally used in rooms and carpeted areas.  A non-woven hotel slipper with an anti-slip sole may be used in slippery areas.
  • Polyester knitted hotel slippers – lightweight and made with knitted polyester. They are commonly used in hotel rooms and other floors. A Poly-velour knitted slipper is also available which is suited for carpeted areas and may be used in bathrooms too.
  • PolyCottonTerry knitted hotel slippers – lightweight and use terry knitted polyester. It is the usual white disposable slipper used in hotels and may be used in and outside the hotel room.
  • Terry Woven hotel slippers – lightweight and soft. It uses 100 % cotton and 330 gsm terry fabric and has a comfortably-cut closed-toe design.
  • Waffle hotel slippers – the classic choice for elegant hotel slippers. 100% cotton with 200gsm waffle fabric.

2. Choose the Right Sole

The right sole to choose should be based on where the hotel slipper is intended to be used. Safety is also very important so it would be best to invest in hotel slippers with non-slip soles.

  • Eva sole – appropriate for slippery floors and wellness and spa areas.
  • Sponge/Eva sole – suited for general use whether for rooms, carpeted areas, or bathrooms.
  • Cardboard sole – suited for use in rooms and carpeted areas. Low-cost slippers but not appropriate for slippery areas.
  • Plastic sole – works generally the same as Eva sole but a bit expensive.
  • Thermal non-slip sole – features non-slip dots at the bottom. It is also perfect for the spa with its heat-resistant feature.

4. Determine the Design

Hotel slippers may be open or close-toed. Customized hotel slippers may also bear logos or the initials of the hotel. Your brand may be printed or embroidered on the slippers. Discuss this with your hotel slippers supplier to ensure that your request will be properly addressed.

5. Inquire about Color Availability

In general, white hotel slippers are commonly used. However, if you have specific color preferences for branding or simplify by choice, you may also ask for availability. While white slippers are readily available, there may be a minimum quantity for colored hotel slippers and may be priced higher than the white ones.
