PEOPLE BEHIND SPA AND WELLNESS PROFESSIONALS

Spa & Wellness Professionals is headed by:

Catherine Brillantes-Turvill, a pioneer and leader in the spa and wellness industry of the Philippines. Cathy is the Founding President of the Spa Association of the Philippines, a Board member of the Singapore-based Asia Pacific Spa & Wellness Council and a graduate of the Executive Spa Development Course conducted by Cornell University in Singapore. Cathy has been involved in spa conceptualization, training and development of five star spas including Chi the Spa at Shangri-La Hotels in Mactan, EDSA Shangri-La, Eskaya Resort and Spa and Marco Polo Hotel Cebu. She led a team in setting up the Shangri-La Spa Academy in Manila. She is an internationally licensed massage therapist (CIBTAC U.K.), a certified work-site wellness specialist (National Wellness Institute, Wisconsin USA) a certified wellness educator (Living Foods Institute, Atlanta USA). She has also taken continuing courses on natural healing and wellness at the Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts and the Philippine Institute of Acupuncture. She is the author of the book “Turn Back Time: Natural Anti-Aging CHOICES” published by New York-based Sorrell Publications. Cathy is President/co-owner of Nurture Spa Village located in Tagaytay City, a destination spa named by CNN Go as “One of the 28 Most Relaxing Spas in Asia” which offers natural healing services in addition to traditional spa treatments. Cathy has been a training and organization development practitioner for the past 30 years and is a frequent speaker in local and international spa and wellness conferences.

Dr. Charles Sutter, a French Medical Doctor whose passion lies in spa development and operations. Currently the Vice President of the Spa and Wellness Association of the Philippines, Charles is also the Managing Director of Spa & Wellness Professionals and Asmara, Inc. which operate spas in several hotels and resorts, like Marco Polo Davao and The Peninsula Manila. Charles moved to the Philippines in 1992 and has been involved in setting up and operating spas locally and internationally. He is a founding member of the Spa Association of the Philippines. Co-consultant of the book “Wellness on the islands”, Charles is a spa lecturer and was one of the resource speakers for the Ateneo Spa Management Certification Program. He is a certified operator of aquatic facilities by the US National Swimming Pool Foundation.

Dr. Mike Turvill, a Doctor in Organic Chemistry from the University of Nottingham in the UK. He heads Hotel and Spa Essentials, a supplier of quality hotel and spa amenities to five star resorts and hotels in the Philippines. He is the President of the Chamber of Cosmetics Industries of the Philippines and was formerly the Asia Pacific Technical Director of Johnson Diversey, a Unilever affiliate. His expertise lies in developing aromatherapy products and spa supplies for quality oriented establishments.

Spa Professionals International Development Center (sister company of Spa & Wellness Professionals)

Spa Professionals International Development Center is the first locally and internationally accredited spa school in the Philippines, holding accreditations from CIBTAC (Confederation of International Beauty Therapy & Cosmetology) of the UK and TESDA of the Philippines. Courses taught include anatomy and physiology, Swedish massage, Philippine Hilot, Reflexology as well as spa business courses such as ‘spa management’ and customer service for spas

Spa & Wellness Professionals was hired to set up the Shangri-La Spa Academy in Manila, which trains Shangri-La Chi Spa and Health Club therapists from all over the world. It was also retained to be a consultant for their spa training. All trainers with Spa Professionals are internationally licensed for anatomy and physiology and Swedish massage and speak Filipino and English.
